In the whimsical days of the early 1990s, before the buzz of PDAs and cellphones filled our lives, Yves and Diane, a dynamic sibling duo and our Co-Founders, embarked on a quest to try and fix project profitability tracking. Yves was running an IT consulting firm and couldn’t make sense of their projects, timelines, and profitability, so, one fine day, in 1993, he’d had enough. Putting their heads together, Yves and Diane founded a company called (you guessed it) Dovico Software Inc. and birthed an ingenious time-tracking device they coined the White Collar System. But, like all great adventures, they faced challenges: dwindling funds and a local market that seemed just too snug for their expansive vision.

By 1998, with the Internet opening new horizons, Diane saw an opportunity and masterfully pivoted. Enter “Track-It by Dovico”–our debutant time-tracking software. As the new millennium dawned, Martin, James, Estelle, and Mike entered the Dovico fray, allowing for our first-ever website to see the light of day, as well as an adapted lite version of Track-It, allowing our customers to download a sample version of our software despite the dialup internet constraints we had to contend with. Though times were challenging, our fortunes soared by a staggering 287% that very year!

From 2000 to 2003, our crew expanded, welcoming stalwarts like Shelley, Gerard, Carl, Terry, Peter, Vicky, Wendy, and Caroline. We poured our hearts into the Track-It Suite, even heat wrapped software kits by hand, and by 2003, our Track-It Software was fully available for online download. By 2005, we dared to dream bigger, shifting from mere installations to offering hosted software. Clients hesitated at first, but Owen, Bob, and our resolute sales approach led by Shelley proved irresistible.

In 2006, we reimagined Track-It and developed a new version of our beloved time tracking software, bringing to life the Timesheet we know and love today. From 2006 to 2008, we solidified partnerships with Intuit and Microsoft, and Timesheet took off as an online Hosted SaaS (Software as a Service).

Between 2008 and 2010, our family grew with Felicia, Phil, and Jody bolstering our ranks. Felicia’s day-one magic? An automated credit card system! Then, 2011 proved to be another monumental year. We embraced multi-currency support and ventured into

the thrilling app domain with the development of our API. By 2012, our API launched, awards graced our mantelpiece and our ethos started shifting. No longer just a transactional entity, we craved meaningful connections. We yearned to empower, to be more than just another software company.

The subsequent years saw innovations like Reports Explorer and our quirky Beer Fridge Time-Tracking Initiative. Our servers transitioned to Amazon, igniting our pace and unleashing unprecedented agility for our team. As fresh faces like Dominique, Jeff, and Jesse joined between 2014 and 2016, a profound question arose: Who are we, truly? The answer was clear: Dovico is not just a company but a community. A mosaic of dreams, values, and aspirations.

As a result, in 2017, we ventured further to explore how we could increase the impact we had on people and teams that, like us, wanted to experience greater connection and community at work. This thought experiment led us to create ‘Tuba’—a mindset app for teams, which would later be renamed “ShowUp.”

By 2018, our purpose finally resonated vibrantly, harmonizing with our team’s collective spirit, just in time for us to celebrate Dovico’s 25th birthday. As we toasted to 25 golden years, a fresh brigade that included Jamie, Cody, Benoit, Will, Sam, Trent, Desmond, Karen and Ryan marched in. They allowed us to unveil ‘Dovico Basic,’ a simpler essence of our cherished Timesheet, as well as introduce Workload Resource Allocation. In 2019 we continued with the unveiling of the Freemium, a free variant of Timesheet, and an invigorated focus on Product-Led Growth.

In 2021, the Dovico horizon brightened with the advent of ‘Teamset’, a beacon for team collaboration and recognition. Yet, growth tales are also laced with reflection. 2022 witnessed a transformative chapter as we bade farewell to our freemium offering, pivoting our energies to morph the Timesheet native apps into dynamic web applications.

As 2023 unfolds, it’s not just another year for us but a milestone — we’re celebrating 30 radiant years in business! At Dovico, our tapestry is rich, woven with tales of tenacity, innovation, and above all, people striving to enrich lives. Every byte, every line of code, is a testament to a journey of purpose, passion, and the endless possibilities to come.
